Our Story and why we chose to care in an Independent Living setting.
How We Started Caring in an Independent Living Community
It all began with a phone call. Seven years ago, we received a call from a daughter whose mother was living in an independent living community and needed care. Back then, Lisa and I had no idea that this type of care even existed. We mistakenly thought that residents would automatically move to assisted living when they needed more help.
Since that eye-opening moment, we've tailored our approach to provide specialized care in independent living communities. We quickly realized that many individuals prefer to stay in their familiar apartments where they've lived for years, rather than moving to a new place. Additionally, the cost jump to assisted living can be a significant burden for many families.
Understanding these needs, we've developed a comprehensive care plan that adapts to the demands of independent living. We start by meeting with the family and conducting an in-apartment assessment. From there, we create a personalized care schedule, ranging from 15-minute increments to hourly services, depending on the resident's needs.
Our services include:
Escort Services: Helping residents get to and from the dining room.
Morning and Evening Assistance: Supporting residents with their morning routines and evening wind-downs.
Household Help: Assisting with laundry and other chores.
Communication: Keeping families informed about everyday hygiene items and any changes in care needs.
Medication Management: Ensuring medications are taken on schedule.
Pet Care:Walking pets when residents are unable to do so.
We've enjoyed and continue to enjoy building meaningful relationships with the families and residents we serve. Our Gentle Care community has grown and flourished, and we're proud to provide the care that allows our residents to remain comfortably in their homes.
